History & Future

Bristol Zoo Project was originally at the Clifton Zoo site known as Bristol Zoo which ran for 185 years until it closed in 2022. The Wild Place Project was created and the zoo officially relocated to this site. In 2023 it was officially renamed Bristol Zoo Project. The charity is now focusing on a new project saving wildlife together ❤️ We were there for the new name announcement and stood with lots of other supporters to spell out the name!

The new site is nearly 10x bigger than the Clifton site which gives them so many opportunities! They are planning on new:

🐻 visitor facilities

🐻 play areas

🐻 new species e.g. critically endangered black rhinos, red-necked ostriches, red pandas and mangabey monkeys

🐻 the gorillas and blue-eyed black lemurs will be moving over from the Clifton site

🐻 a new conservation campus for education, medicine and breeding

We love Bristol Zoo Project so much! These are some photographs from a recent visit:
