Redmaids High Junior School
#AD Redmaids’ High Junior School is an independent day school for girls aged 7-11 ⭐️ Next Visiting Event Friday 2 February! ⭐️
The Red Maids’ School was established in 1634, and is the oldest surviving girls’ school in the country! 🏫 It merged with Redland High School for Girls in 2017 to create Redmaids’ High School. Recently named the highest ranked independent school in Bristol by The Times Parent Power league table for academic performance, for the second year in a row.
I was invited along to tour the Junior School. The school is nestled in Westbury-on-Trym, close to Henleaze. The school grounds and facilities are excellent. I absolutely loved the new fiction library which had a beautiful nature theme, and has the most inviting reading window/nook! Other highlights included a new sensory room, the playground area, the art room, vibrant artwork and colourful classrooms. The Senior School is part of the same site which allows for shared sports and dining facilities.I came away with the impression that the school is friendly, nurturing, creative and child-led. The small class sizes I can imagine are a real benefit for the girls (I counted around 18 in the Year 3 class but these are capped at 20).
Club and activities! ⚽️🏑The girls have so many options for extracurricular activities at lunchtime and after school. Activities include art, music, drama, dance, sports, robotics, outdoor pursuits and more! Swipe through this post for a few examples ➡️ The girls are encouraged to express themselves and follow their interests which is really wonderful to see! Whilst visiting I could hear the children practising for their next school production! 🎵
There are assessment days all year-round and fees start from £3,915 per term. Bursaries, scholarships and grants available at the Senior School.
🗓️ If you would like to see it for yourself, you can sign up to one of the next Visiting Events: Friday 2 February & Thursday 25 April.
Note: The Junior School starts from Year 3, at the start of Key Stage 2.
