What to expect on the day & our review of Lackham Lambing
First stop – Notton Farm
Lackham Lambing is a great family day out! We arrived at Lackham College not long after 10am, and were directed to park without queues. We made our way on foot to the tractor trailer ride pick up point which will take you to your first stop on the farm. It was buggy friendly (just be prepared that you are taking it to a farm with some mud/dirt). The farm had lots of lambs and sheep, a tractor you could sit in, bouncy castle (£3 for 5 mins), straw bale play tent, coffee & doughnuts. There were lambs being born whilst we were there, and many more ewes ready to pop. Lambs were visible moving about in the ewes’ tummies! The best part was having a cuddle with some of the lambs!
Second stop – Dairy Farm
Once you are finished at this farm (at your own pace) you get on the tractor trailer ride to take you to the next stop – a dairy farm which also had loads to do. There were cows & calves, a train ride (£2 per person), a small fairground, tractor ride ons tent, donkeys, pigs, small animals (to cuddle if they were in the mood!), and you could watch the cow’s amazing robotic voluntary milking system in action. This stop also had food (e.g. pork baps, chips, crepes, wraps) and a mini farmers market. I hope some good quality street food pop ups are included in future as I think the food offering could be better.
Once you have finished at the dairy farm, you get a third tractor trailer ride back to the car park/college. The kids loved the tractor trailer ride and it was a great part of the experience!
Overview
We were there for 3 hrs 40 total! It does say on their website 2-3 hours is the average duration for a visit. We loved Lackham Lambing – lots of lambs, other animals and full of farm fun! It was our first visit but certainly won’t be the last!
All the staff we met were from Wiltshire College Animal Centre. They appeared very passionate and knowledgable, and we thought the organisation was excellent. I worried it might be a lot of queuing, but there were at least 3 or 4 if not more tractor trailers and any queues moved quickly.

Pair with a visit to Lacock
The neighbouring village of Lacock is a beautiful quintessential English village which feels like you have stepped back in time. We wanted to spend some time here but the little ones were too tired! Picture beautiful historic houses with homemade jams being sold from a garden stone wall. I feel it would be a great place for a cream tea! There is an abbey (National Trust £) where they filmed some of Harry Potter, as well as some locations around the village! It is definitely worth a visit and makes a longer day of it if you are travelling from Bristol.
FREE ENTRY – If you are visiting next weekend 25/26 March National Trust Lacock are participating in the National Lottery Open Week where you can get free entry subject to conditions – see here for terms and conditions.
